R&G BRENNER INCOME TAX CONSULTANTS, established in 1941, has been a family operated tax business for nearly 70 years. Our service is very personal. Most of our clients have been with us for generations. They trust us with their tax and financial matters, and we value that trust.

Richard Zimmerman works X-1, and Peter Zoschak becomes General Manager. It is another fantastic season.

Richard Zimmerman becomes General Manager, Carol Kelly working part time, and another fantastic tax season. Additional space rented.

R&G Brenner is now on both sides of Hempstead Turnpike, in Elmont.

Robert meets Peter B. Zoschak, managing New York City for H&R Block.

1972: Another great tax season

The company is charging ahead at full speed.

With a total of 38 combined offices, R&G Brenner has bang up tax season. Ed Noia sells his M-1 lease to Robert.

1969-1970: Robert retires from teaching

Robert and Gail lead the company to another 2 great seasons, Robert choosing to retire after 10 years of teaching. Becky retires to become an artist.

Robert discovers the power of electronic calculators that divide instantly and takes the business operations to a new level through comparisons and percentages. It is a great tax season.

Total of 23 offices this tax season:

  • 6 offices in Brooklyn
  • 2 in Queens
  • 5 Nassau County
  • 10 Times Square Stores

At age 32, Robert “sees the light” and becomes a confident, comfortable, strong executive.  All the while, Robert is still teaching.

1967: The tax business continues to grow

William and David are now running offices throughout Manhattan, Bronx, Rockland, Westchester, and Robert and Gail are managing the offices in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, Suffolk. The business continues to grow.

After the season, Robert makes headquarters in Elmont, Nassau County.

Robert gets very ambitious this year and joins forces with David and William, combining the tax businesses and changing the name of the business to R&G BRENNER INCOME TAX CENTERS, INC.  The main office is now on 46th Street, off Lexington Ave. Mike Gorman is General Manager.

The code names for offices evolves, the “franchise” system is born, and 35 combined and new offices are operating.

Robert opens a new M-1 office at 435 Lexington Ave, opposite Grand Central Station.

1961-1965: Family Matters

Robert and Gail are growing the business with all of their hard work.  They buy a home in Merrick and open new offices in Times Square Stores Discount Centers and Brooklyn close to B-1, and one in Spring Valley R-1, near Gail’s parents’ home.

Brother David Brenner starts tax business with William Brenner, operating together from 507 5th Ave. They open in Bronx and Queens and Manhattan.

Bob and Gail adopt two children, Gisa and Alex.

1960: teaching and operations

Robert graduates with a Masters in General Education and consolidates the offices to B-1. Gail runs the day to day operations while Robert is teaching.  Robert works from late afternoons until the evening after teaching all day.
